VS Shorts | The Short Film Section of Ventana Sur

This section of Ventana Sur is dedicated to Latin American short films and to those who embrace this format with vision and creative freedom.

This year, more than 210 works with available world premieres were submitted from across the region, confirming that the short film is not only the starting point for new voices, but also a space for aesthetic and narrative exploration chosen by filmmakers from all over South America. Its vitality, expressive power, and growing presence in industrial circuits position it as a fundamental format in contemporary cinema.

To respond to that strength, we have consolidated this specific space within the market. Eight specially curated short films, some in the final stages of completion, are participating in an intensive workshop designed by The Short Film Lab, aimed at strengthening their international distribution and positioning strategies. This training is complemented by an exclusive screening for companies, festivals, and decision-makers, as well as one-on-one meetings with programmers, distributors, and sales agents.

VS Shorts is supported by strategic partners such as the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Clermont-Ferrand, REGARD, and BOGOSHORTS short film festivals, Málaga Talent – MAFIZ, and Uruguayan post-production companies Subtítulos.tv, Artemisa Lab, and El Mar Film Sound. All these institutions and companies help consolidate VS Shorts as a key platform for regional short films.
