VENTANA DOC WIP – Work in Progress

Call for feature-length documentary projects with a minimum cut of 45 minutes to participate in the VENTANA DOC WIP, to be developed within the framework of Ventana Sur between 2 and 6 December 2024 in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Requirements:

• The call is aimed at feature-length documentary projects in the editing stage.
• Only Latin American feature-length documentaries or co-productions with a majority Latin American production can be registered.
• Feature fictions films will not be considered.
• Films registered as Work in Progress in previous editions of Ventana Sur will not be accepted.
• Films with an international sales agent will not be eligible for registration.

How to register your project?

• There is no registration fee.
• To participate, you must complete the attached registration form by 2 October 2024.
• Registration will be considered complete once you send the full documentation requested and attached to the form.
• The deadline for submitting the screener is 2 October 2024.
• After that date, registrations that are not complete will be canceled.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SCREENER FOR VIEWING

VIDEO FILE*
A file must be sent without seconds of black at the beginning or end and without time count or watermarks on the film.

Vimeo links must be sent with password in Full HD format, with the download option enabled.

About the selected films

• 6 films will be selected to participate in a closed screening to prominent industry players.

• The filmmakers of the selected films will also have an agenda of one to one meetings.

• The selected films will be eligible for prizes to participate in international industry events as well as other awards.
• Those selected will have access to two accreditations to participate in Ventana Sur and 3 nights accommodation for 2 people per project (producer/director) in a shared room.
• Selected films must send the work in the format for theatrical exhibition according to the instructions below.

The screener to be screened during the event will be 20 minutes long and must have the following characteristics

Required formats for the WIP VENTANA DOCUMENTARY WIP theatrical screening

1) DCP with English subtitles burnt into the image, non-activatable. DCP generated according to DCI standards, with disc formatted in ext2-ext3.

2) Video file, with English subtitles burnt into the image, by download link.

File type: mov – Resolution: 1920 x 1080 pixels – Codec: h264 – Bitrate: 12 Mbps – Framerate: 24 or 25 fps – Audio: AAC (stereo or 5.1) – Audio sample rate: 48kHz – Audio bit depth: 16 or 24 bits – Maximum file size: 10GB – *** The bitrate can be higher as long as the file size does not exceed 10GB.

Deadline for submission of the screener for exhibition: 15 November 2024.
