Films adapted into plays and shows presented in cinemas and online platforms. On the basis of three successful theater cases, what are the challenges of these adaptations? What are the risks for each of the different formats? What is the process to evaluate a potential adaptation?


Mirta Romay, Founding Director, Teatrix

Mirta Romay has a degree in Psychology and has a wide experience in diverse kinds of formats and contents. She developed a publishing company and worked as a TV producer, in entertainment and educational formats. She participated in the urban regeneration of Guayaquil, Ecuador, broadcasted in national television. She introduced the mass use of new technologies in 1998. Since 2015, she has developed TEATRIX, a vertical OTT dedicated to theater, creating an audiovisual language for plays and adding technological and network knowledge.

Luis Scalella

Luis Scalella, Producer, “Perfectos Desconocidos”

He has been film producer and distributor since the ‘80s. He has distributed hugely successful international films, and productions by the 20th Century Fox for many years. He produced over 25 films, many of which had more than a million spectators. Since May 2009, he has been President of the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) based in Brussels.

Diego Kolankowsky, Producer, “Despertar de Primavera” y “Beetlejuice”

Diego Kolankowsky is an international producer and creative in theater, film, television and media. Winner of a Tony Award, an Emmy and 6 Martin Fierros. He is part of the North American theater industry, he succeeds in Broadway and he is the first and only Argentine to become a Tony voter, honored with the designation as Full Member of the Broadway League. He owns the media Delta 90.3 and Haceinstantes.com. He is CEO of DK Group, a production company specialized in entertainment and journalistic contents, and he also runs the Kryptonite agency of marketing and communication.

Tomás Rottemberg, Producer, “La mujer de al lado”

He is the Director of Multiteatro S.A., the company that handles the theaters Multiteatro Comafi, Multitabaris Comafi and Teatro Liceo in the City of Buenos Aires. He coordinates programming and logistics for the theaters Atlas/América, Mar del Plata and Bristol/Lido/Neptuno in the City of Mar del Plata. He is currently a part of the Board of Directors of A.A.D.E.T (Argentine Association of Theater Entrepreneurs). He is an independent producer of contents for theater, including plays such as “Testosterona”, “El padre”, and “La mujer de al lado”, play based on the film “El hombre de al lado”, among others.
